Ruijie – Use username and password to log in to the router when logging in with Telent

Network topology:

Configuration points:

  1. Log in to the device through the console port
  2. Configure the IP address of the router’s Ethernet port
  3. Configure Telent password
  4. Determine if Telent is correct
  5. Verify configuration

Configuration steps:

  1. Log in to the device through the console port
  2. Configure the IP address of the router’s Ethernet port
Ruijie>enable //Enter privileged mode                                                                                                
Ruijie#configure terminal //Enter global configuration mode 
Ruijie(config)#interface gigabitEthernet 0/0 //Enter GE0/0 port configuration mode 
Ruijie(config-if-GigabitEthernet 0/0)#ip address //Configure the ip address and subnet mask of the interface 
Ruijie(config-if-GigabitEthernet 0/0)#exit //Exit to global configuration mode
  1. Configure Telnet password
Ruijie(config)#line vty 0 4 //Enter telnet password configuration mode, 0 4 means opening remote virtual lines 0 - 4, allowing a total of 5 users to log in to the router at the same time 
Ruijie(config-line)#login local //Enable authentication based on user name and password for telnet login device 
Ruijie(config-line)#exit //Exit to global configuration mode 
Ruijie(config)#username admin password ruijie //Configure the user name as admin and the password as ruijie 
Ruijie(config)#enable password ruijie //Configure the enable password to ruijie 
Ruijie(config)#end //Exit to privileged mode 
Ruijie#write //Save device configuration
  1. Confirm whether the Telent is correct
    On the PC, enter the cmd command in Start-Run, click “OK”, and in the pop-up CMD command, enter: telnet

    After pressing Enter, enter the user name and password. The password is hidden and not displayed when entering. Enter the normal password and press Enter to enter the user mode of the device, and RuiJie> mode appears.

    After entering enable in RuiJie> mode, you will be prompted to enter the privilege password. Enter the correct password and press Enter to enter the privilege mode.
  2. Configuration verification
    View the users currently logged in to the router

As shown in the picture above, there are two users logging in to the router, one is logging in through the Console line, and the other is logging in to the router through Telent. The IP address of the logged-in user is
